Godspeed to all the Brothers of Barbaro...

  1. The journey will continue here on my Family of Barbaro blog. Having the blog as my own, besides writing about Barbaro's Family, it will also allow me the freedom to cover other topics that I believe need to be covered to help the sport I love, the sport of kings, horse racing.

Hope everyone enjoys it, and, please feel free to voice your thoughts, opinions, and knowledge. I love to hear what everyone has to say about Barbaro's Family, as well as every other aspect about racing.

Let's hope it is a safe and succesful year for all the brothers, Nicanor, Lentenor, and baby Margano. As well as Dynaformer and La Ville Rouge and her unborn colt.

  2. Greg..so glad you have your web site now. We are soo glad you will finally get to do things you wanted to do and do it your way. Can't wait to see what you will come up with next. Good luck...your friends are with you!

  3. Hey Greg,

It should be easier for people to comment now, without becoming a blog team member. Good luck!

  4. Thought I would give it a try and see if I could post without signing in. Can't wait for everyone to start posting here.

Greg this is going to be a wild ride!!!

  5. I love the name of this blog, just in case there could be a filly added to the family in addition to LVR and Dynaformer. Also the name is fitting for Barbaro's extended family(us), not just his immediate family. Good luck Nicanor on your upcoming race.

  6. This is great, Greg. This "independent" blog will allow you a lot more freedom. You can say whatever you want to and discuss whatever you want to. You did so much to bring the situation about DynaKing/Gifted to the readers of the other blog, for one thing. And I know that he received donations in some case ONLY because of that blog. Not everyone is on ABF (as it's called now). So congratulations, and thank you. Chrys

  7. Also I went by Penny in TX on bloodhorse, it is showing part of my email address.

  10. Am so happy for this blog, Greg, and it will be excellent since you are the blogger. Look forward to all of the great information you will provide here and to the exchange with you and others as we follow our beautiful Brothers of Barbaro and the entire family. Thank you to Alex Spradling and to Bloodhorse and most of all to you, Greg. Hope your elbow is better and that your things are returned to you.

  12. Congratulations on your new "home", Greg! Look forward to talking racing!

  13. Oh Right! THANKS Greg! This is wonderful!!! ..except, I am looking for the familiar names from the Bloodhorse blog and I do not recognize any of them (so far)...where is everybody?
Any more info on Nicanor's race this weekend?

  14. Hi Greg, Remember me? I'm the one who cheered Nicanor and Lentenor on at Aqueduct! (my voice was on your video.) I am delighted to know you have your own web site and look forward to keeping track of Barbaro's Family, as well as keeping "his" Legacy ALIVE and GROWING!
    LOL,
    Carol

  15. Hey FOB's it would be helpful if you would put your BH name at the bottom of your posts. That way we know who we are talking with here. Just a suggestion.

  17. Thanks everyone :)

Now, to sit down and look at the field in Nicanor's race on Saturday (if he actually races). I will have my take on this tough race posted later tonight. I will say, I don't like the distance, the #12 gate Nicanor will be breaking from, and, surprised no jockey has been named yet?

  18. Hi, Greg,

  23. Hey, Greg!

As sad as I am to see the end of the Barbaro Bros on Bloodhorse era, you've done a great job of creating a venue to continue the love.

Looking forward to the updates, and see you at the races!!!

    Karen Line

    ReplyDelete
  24. Hey there Karen! Thanks, and see you soon at the track :)

    Cannot wait to see Margano!

    ReplyDelete
  25. From the reports we've been getting, Margano sounds to be very promising! Wouldn't it be a break for Michael/Peter if he does continue to prove to be easier to train than his brothers were. Although some would say that Lentenor wasn't really hard to train. I, of course, don't want to believe that my beloved Nicanor is difficult in any way. He just knows his own strengths, like all smart horses do, and wants to play to those strengths. Here's hoping he finally finds a jockey for Saturday and that the jockey follows instructions instead of making up his own, and that Nic runs well and safely.

  26. Sally, if you will scroll all the way down past the Post Comments, you will see where it says Newer Post, it says Subscribe to: Post Comments. Click on there and you should be able to register there. I had to make a Google account so I could post but it's free so don't worry. If anyone else did it another way or easier way, please tell Sally. Hope it works for you.

  27. I would never comment anywhere else bc some posters were/are so mean. I think it's a blessing this happened....A) Len and Nic will do better no longer being targeted by BH. B) Margano will never have the negativity put upon him that his bro's had.

  32. VERY excited to see Margano, right? I hears he is handsome, kind-eyed and BIG !!!

Warm thoughts for your family, and I am sorry about your kitty, Greg. Hope the rest are well.

BTW, received my copy of Greatness and Goodness from Chester bookstore -- they sent an autographed copy which was terrific -- they are lovely people. Very moving. Takes you right back. Grateful that Nic and Len are still around and well.

You be well, and look forward to reading your offerings!

  33. I tried to upload a picture of my Miss Kitty but it wouldn't accept it. Hopefully I'll show up as Lou in Tx. Thanks Penny for the info.

I will have to figure out a way around that...

  37. This new home feels good. Will be looking for interesting info on the boys. Good luck Greg. It will be fun.

    ReplyDelete
  38. This is great Greg! I'm looking forward to following your blog and I know you will have lots of fun and important things to say! Tough field for Nic on Saturday (if he runs)....seems like he probably came out of his last really strong though, so I hope he gets to run! I'm not so worried about the outside post--the track is setup very similar to Delaware. I don't think the distance is ideal, but hopefully he just needs a strong 2F kick!

    HSLewis

    ReplyDelete
  39. Karen,

Yes, hope to see Margano very soon at Fair Hill :)

    ReplyDelete
  40. Heather,

I think it is 50/50 he will run. I also don't like the distance, the outside post, and not having a jockey named yet. We shall see, as far as the field? I don't think he should be 7th choice at 10-1 odds, the field isn't as strong as the Canadian, IMO...

    ReplyDelete
  41. I don't think it's as strong either--and should set up better for him...the jockey is my biggest worry with as much trouble as he's had in that area.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I guess I feel with the right ride he could overcome the post and the distance in this field--but will he get the right ride??? Million dollar question LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Dear Fren Greg, I am relieved to know that you will continue here. It is very important to stay in touch AS BARBARO's famblee. Thanks for the updates. Your FOB Fren, Lin' Otherlyn

  45. I posted earlier and it is not showing up so will try again, maybe I still don't have it right. Here goes, plus my hard drive just died and am using my grandson puter so will probably have to do everything again when I get the drive.
Am so glad that we have our own blog now and are not under the constraints of Bloodhorse. Greg hope all your ills are on the mend now and hopefully Nic will race and have a rider that listens.

    ReplyDelete
  46. My thought waves are still pointed to Ramon in New York. What would it take? Well, a short plane ride to Tampa Bay. After the race, you could take your family to Disney World with the winnings you get for riding Nicanor to victory.

Seriously folks, I seem to recall a race where Nicanor was in tenth position and won. He did have blinkers on during his maiden special weight, but he didn't seem to have any problem with that outside position.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Kathy,

While highly unlikely, I hope you are right about Ramon flying south! Yes, Nicanor broke his maiden from the 10th spot in a ten horse field, but, that was against maidens. It would be alot harder for him to pull that off against the class of this larger field. Not saying it can't happen, just saying it will be tough.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Well, I just looked and I'm not showing to be a follower either. Thought when I joined this blog it would happen. Anybody got any directions on how to do that? Will need simple instructions, I'm a novice at this computer stuff. Thanks

  50. Greg, I'm glad to see your passion to write about horses and races continue. Thanks to BH for your start. You give your readers a wounderful insite to Barbaro's family. Congratulations on your new web site. Keep up the great work. By the way, Happy Birthday!

    ReplyDelete
  51. My heart sank when I saw the headline and knew immediately this BH blog was ending. So relieved to read on and learn of the new one. Those of us who want to make certain that Barbaro is NEVER forgotten should have the opportunity to honor him every way we can. I am so happy to know that we can continue to do so on your new blog. Don't understand the techno~babble involved with maintaining a blog, and I don't even know if I will be able to post this. But, I just had to attempt to let you know how much I have enjoyed your articles, and how happy I am that they will continue.....horseydoodle

    ReplyDelete
  52. Well Ramon is in Oaklawn on Saturday with GoGo for the big race soooo would not be available to go to Tampa for Nic. That sucks.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Thanks Lobieb, it was a fleeting thought. Hopefully they find a rider for Nicanor by Saturday. Although, I am sure M.M. has other options or ideas if he doesn't.

  54. Hay Greg!!

  55. Thank You Greg for continuing the updates on Barbaro's Brothers. I'm looking forward to see Nicanor race this weekend at Tampa. Good Luck, Nicky :) Make your Big Brother Proud!!

    ReplyDelete
  56. Opps, the last I had heard yesterday, Nicanor was entered in the Tampa Bay Stakes. Now, I see he will be at Gulfstream on Sunday. (I like Gulfstream better)!! I believe Barbaro liked Gulfstream as well !!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Mybigred,

Nicanor still listed as racing tomorrow at Tampa, the link you read in the right margin was from last month's race at Gulfstream, sorry about the confusion.

  58. Greg: Congratulations and thank you for starting a blog on our Precious Barbaro's Family. I have been following Barbaro since the Kentucky Derby and have been on Alex's forum since 2006. ReplyDelete
  64. Hey Mike,

Nice to see you here, and your quite welcome. So cool you are going to see Dyna King, wish I could, someday I will, I promise! Give him some treats from me, and say hello to Judy for me, try to take some photos!

    ReplyDelete
  65. Mike,

Great news to hear about Dyna King, you just made my day!

    ReplyDelete
  66. Thats WONDERFUL news on Dyna King - thanks!!!

    ReplyDelete
  67. FYI,

Just got word that Nicanor is NOT running tomorrow everyone. Kinda had a gut feeling considering the jockey situation and the #12 gate. I am sure other factors played into the decision not to run him. Patience, on to Keeneland...

    ReplyDelete
  68. Hi Greg and everyone -- nice to see you all here!

    ReplyDelete
  69. It qould be so nice if those of you who posted over on Bloodhorse would give your former screen names on your posts here.

And, I hope Brettzky99 joins us here, as I really appreciate his knowledge and enjoy hearing his reasoned opinions. I hope JAJ and Horsefirst come over, too.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Hi Daffodil, yes... I'm Carol, I'm on the video, shouting "I Love You Lentenor!"

    ReplyDelete
  71. Greg, Your Blog is Stellar!!! BRAVO!

    ReplyDelete
  72. GREG
Also informed Judy that you have a new blog. Have a feeling this blog will be a great success. Question? Do you think A. Feather will ever race again? Thank you.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Well Greg..so much for you having to write up the race tomorrow. Heard "on to Keenland" from Handyman. Keeland doesn't open until April 8th so we have awhile to wait for him to race.

Have been reading Alex Brown's book on Barbaro. it's terrific! Made myself put it down at 3 a.m. this morning. If you haven't gotten his book it's definitely worth the read. It's available from Amazon. $29.99 and is 235 pages with lots and lots of pictures. Sorry Greg, just thought some on your blog might not be aware of his book.

    ReplyDelete
  74. The Title is: Greatness and Goodness: Barbaro and his Legacy. Should have put in my other post...sorry.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Dear Greg and all Fans of Barbaro,

It's so good to have our own website where we can all come together to celebrate Barbaro and his legacy. I've followed Bloodhorse since day one and I've enjoyed every post and update. You're all part of my family and everyday I look forward to see what everyone has to say about Nicky, Lenny and now Margano.

    love to all,

    Chris K

    ReplyDelete
  76. Carol, so GLAD you've joined us -- we all fell in love with that video! You and Lentenor were both adorable in it.
And I accused poor Geralyn of being you about a dozen times and she kept denying it. You really have to get to meet as many of us FOBs as possible. This new blog Family of Barbaro or FOB, is wonderful, isn't it?
    Much love to everyone,

  77. Greg, Good luck with the new blog and thank you for wanting to devote so much time to this new adventure. I tried to post before but just did get verification that I have a google acct. So, am trying again.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Hopefully I'm here now....Looking forward to this blog!

    ReplyDelete
  79. Mike,

Thanks for informing Judy about the blog.

About Awesome Feather? Good question, a question that is really impossible to answer without knowing the extent of her tendon injury, but, will give my opinion anyway.

Since she was purchased by Mr. Stronach for 2.3 million at the Keeneland sale in November, I would probably guess she won't race again. I think it would be too much of a risk to take at this point. I am just glad the injury wasn't worse and it really is a shame, she was amazing on the track.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Lou,

Thanks for bringing up Mr. Brown's book,

"Greatness and Goodness: Barbaro and his Legacy"

  81. Greg-
Thanks for addressing my question. That's what I was afraid of also. She was a very good racehorse with alot of potential.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Greg, your welcome. I hope everybody gets to get this book. You will learn alot about Barbaro and the way Alex wrote it seems like you are there. The pictures are fabulous.
Amazon had free shipping when I ordered one for my granddaughter. Just cost the $29.99. That offer may still be going on.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Evidently I tried to join Google a long time ago and they had my email address which I've had forever and they wouldn't let me sign up with a new screen name without another email addy, so Daffodil it is. You can call me Daffy...it fits.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Greg,

Thanks for starting this blog, I've followed all the boys on Bloodhorse & on the Alex Brown forum. Patiently awaiting my copy of the book.

    ReplyDelete
  85. I'm trying for the third time--about to give up, and I do have a Google account. Congratulations anwyay, Greg. I was Barbara W on the other blog.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Got it! (DOn't ask about the name--lol.)

    ReplyDelete
  87. Just watched the TBStakes -- Doubles Partner won it (I was afraid he would) -- came from off the pace along with a barrage of others but got the win, it appears. The 13 horse, who slipped into Nicanor's slot, pulled a Nicanor and ran over to take the early lead only to lose it later to the onslaught of closers. Just as well Nic wasn't in this field.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Eh, I think Nic would have won by a slim nose ;)

    ReplyDelete
  89. On a positive note....Doubles Partner winning gives another little plug to Lentenor imo!

    ReplyDelete
  90. Oops. I mean click on hyperlink help.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Greg, I think I am going to junk mail with the url information. I think you have to have high access to enter a url. I am probably low. But if you check your junk mail, you will see how to add the hyperlink information.

  92. Greg, thanks for continuing on following Barbaro's brothers in this new venue! It just looks so spiffy and while I was always grateful to Bloodhorse for having that blog on their site, I feel like this one will be even better. You have so many of the fans behind you and you have such a great way of writing, I'm looking forward to following this blog. Big thanks to Adam for helping you get this blog going - I always love his slightly offbeat blog on the Bloodhorse - Adam's Turf - he always celebrates the horse. Way too wordy, that's why I try not to post too much, but I will stop for now except to reveal that on the other blog I signed as txhorsefan. :)

  98. Hi Daffodil, NOTHING is impossible, perhaps, if it is during a "pleasant weather" Season, you could come for a longish weekend... I'd love to meet you and other FOB's from the Pacific Coast! Been there several times, (LOVE it!)Most venues and hotels and everywhere are "wheelchair" accessible. Are you on Facebook?

  99. lOVELY! I go away for a while, to check on my mare and come back to a beautiful panoply of Lael colors. Nice, Greg!!

    ReplyDelete
  100. Marian,

Glad you noticed. Not many choices for me to choose from, figured the colors fit, and, the grass on the top has a special meaning :)

    ReplyDelete
  101. FYI,

Since I couldn't post my take on Nicanor's race as my first entry here, due to him being scratched (Nice win by Double's Partner!), I figured my first entry here would be to post the photos and videos I have taken of Nicanor and Lentenor the past two years. It will take me a few hours to put them all in one entry (about 180 photos and 15 videos), they will be posted tomorrow night. Just thought it would be nice to have all of their photos in one spot.

If anyone would like to add their photos/videos to the collection, feel free to e-mail them to me at familyofbarbaro@gmail.com

    Thanks...

    ReplyDelete
  102. Hi Greg, Do you think you could arrange an "FOB GATHERING" @ Belmont, during it's open season? Perhaps, we can book a Group Lunch in the Restaurant. Also, is it possible, to list most recent posts to your Blog, at the top, to avoid scrolling through ones already read? (just a suggestion...) :)

    ReplyDelete
  103. Greg, if one subscribes to email postings, from this blog, your links to photos and articles, will show up as links you can click on in the email.

  106. Just read the chart of Nicanor's win at Belmont with Ramon Dominguez aboard. They beat a lot of good horses and a collection of great jockeys, from Johnny V to Garret Gomez and Rajiv Maragh. I hope I spelled those names correctly. It was an impressive victory for Nic and Ramon rode him perfectly. The chart describes it all. They were a really good team. I recall that Ramon described Nicanor as "intense". I hope the two get together again. It would be so good for Nicanor.

    ReplyDelete
  107. I'm so glad that you are continuing your blog. I look forward to your updates.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Glad to see Nic had another nice workout. Keenland is really not that far away now and hope that our boy will run there. Think it opens on /8 or close to that date.

  119. Greg;

So sad to hear that your blog was canceled on Bloodhorse.com. I've always really enjoyed it. But I'm glad to see that you've got a new blog here -- I'll be following!

    Good luck!

  121. Dear Greg,
Thank you for posting picture of Nicky on his blog. I tried to post a comment but but I couldn't. The pictures are stunning and Nicky is such a gorgeous horse. He's all muscles. Can't wait for his nex't race.

  122. Chris K (with the delicious Greek name!), I always love to see a great Greek name (I'm half Greek, so duh!)

ANyway. Nicanor IS gorgeous and muscular -- a real hunk of horse. But so are his two brothers, from all reports. We have so much to look forward to this Spring!

  123. Dynaformer
Here are some Dynaformer pictures where the old guy is having a little fun.

  124. Greg--I have quite a few pics of Lentenor from Keeneland on my Flickr page I can share--if I send you the link can you get some off of there for the blog? I think you are a friend of mine on Flickr so maybe you can access them already?? Nic's page is awesome--love all his gorgeous pictures and seeing how he has grown up!

  125. HEY GREG
Everything is concluded regarding plans for my trip to Az. for the weekend of Apr.8th. Really looking forward to it.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Heather,

Thanks, I will be posting Lentenor's page tonight, same as Nicanor's, with Lentenor's stats, photos, and videos. Yes, you are a Flikr friend, I will take a look, and include some of your photos for Lentenor's page.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Mike,

Judy just sent me the BEST video of Dyna King, it is breathtaking, I will post it tonight! Have a great time and take lots of photos, also, give some treats to Dyna King/Gifted on my behalf! Thanks...

  130. Hi Greg,

I hope you are rooting for UCONN tonight!

    ReplyDelete
  131. Yes I am :)

Uconn up by nine at the half!

LOVE to see Uconn and Duke meet in the elite eight next,

    Still 20 minutes to play...

    ReplyDelete
  132. Can't find Gifted/DynaKing video's on Heart's page and still waiting for your post of Gifted vedio, Greg

    ReplyDelete
  133. GREG
Hope CT. wins. BTW, concerned that some still don't know about your new blog.

    ReplyDelete
  134. Mike,

Uconn just won, first team into the elite eight! Now bring on Duke :)

As far as my blog, still worried people are having trouble leaving comments and the structure needs some tweaking, which I will work on this weekend, just been real busy this week.

I just looked at the stats, one week since I started the blog, over 5000 page views! Thanks to everyone, and, please have some patience with me, I will get it right :)

I had to watch my Connecticut Huskies win, so, now I am working on Lentenor's page...

    ReplyDelete
  135. FYI,

Just finished working on Lentenor's page, located in the right margin, enjoy!

Thanks Heather for your wonderful photos :)

    ReplyDelete
  136. Dear Lord, he is gorgeous! Which were the photos of his Maiden Win?

    ReplyDelete
  137. I just looked at each of the horses bio's and Greg you did a beautiful job. Our boys looked ever so stunning and muscular which you captured to a T. With Nicky all I can think of is Frank's song....."I Did It My Way". Hopefully we will see him in Keenland and he will have a jockey that listens to MM. Lenny will really need a couple of races to get back in the groove as he has been off for a long time and hopefully at Stephen's he got some work at least and another year older for maturity. Can't wait to see pics of Margano. What an exciting year I hope this turns out to be.

    ReplyDelete
  138. Thank you for your hard work Greg, I really enjoy every little thing about these guys (and maybe a gal soon. Thanks again.

  139. GREG
Thanks for everything you do,this blog is wonderful. It's my fav, a certain blog on Bloodhorse I've little respect for the carte blanche that affords certain individuals. At the present,my days of blogging there are numbered by my own design. You and Haskin are class acts!

  140. Anonymous, sorry I should have said the videos of Dyna King are on Hearts facebook page. Sorry about that.

    ReplyDelete
  141. Re the Dyna King video -- its of a happy horse, enjoying life. You don't give up on a horse like that. He's a joy! We love you Dyna King!

    ReplyDelete
  142. "Well, here we are in a new place to still follow Barbaro's Brothers. Thanks I am so happy for this.

    ReplyDelete
  143. Is Nicanor running this weekend and if so Where?

    ReplyDelete
  144. Nicanor is not running this weekend. He will probably run in Keeneland in April, per someone who knows. As soon as it is known definitely, you'll be notified here. So Stay tuned!

    ReplyDelete
  145. My daughter asked me yesterday, how I became so interested in horses. (It is a new passion of mine.) I had to think about it -- Indirectly, Barbaro, but more directly, Nicanor. When I fell in love with him as a 2 year old, I was hooked. Lately, I've been watching babies being born at an Arabian ranch in Colorado -- with the latest being a gorgeous little Arabian Sabino colt, Sparky. Mare Stare is my best friend right now!

    ReplyDelete
  146. I've been a Dynaformer fan since he went to stud (actually bred our mare to him, twice). Perfect Drift proved my opinion of Dynaformer being a good sire, Barbaro put it in a whole new light. When Barbaro stepped onto the track, I was hopelessly in love. I told everyone who would listen (and many who wouldn't) that this was the next Triple Crown winner. He should have been. Now I can follow his family and join with others who have been touched by his life, his passing, and his legacy.

    ReplyDelete
  147. Hi Colmel, "Well Put" I couldn't agree more, "BARBARO" "was" INDEED, "THE NEXT TRIPLE CROWN WINNER!!!" except, God had EVEN BIGGER PLANS for him..... (to touch millions of hearts and do even more, through advocacy for Equine Issues!) God Luv Ya Colmel!!!

    ReplyDelete
  148. FOBs: I'm just so amused by all of this. We're all just like a big family who has made a big move and can't find our socks: "Mike, where's that box with - - - "; "Hey Greg, how do I turn this thing on?"; "Daffy, where are the rest of the flowers?". I note we are all a bit more civil. I like that. Greg will get the blog kinks worked out. I am just so dang thankful to have this place to come to and to see all the familiar people posting. Can't wait to visit DynaKing with Mike R on the 8th. We'll take Judy to lunch if she'll have us and there will be lots of carrots and peppermints in my truck for DK and his friends. Promise to take lots of pictures - and - gulp, figure out a way to post them! diastu in Tempe, AZ (temporarily pulling for the UofA!) Greg, maybe putting <----> around urls will make them post? (Oh yeah, me giving techno advice. Right!)Will dive into profile next.

    ReplyDelete
  149. Glad you are continuing Greg - Bloodhorse is not the same without this blog. So glad I can still get the "brother's" info.
    Thank-you!

  155. Hi guys/gals,just finished watching DK's videos on Heart's facebook page, wooo hooo!!! What a beautiful sight to see, between the tears of joy and screaming at the screen to root him on, bouts of laughter. Those eyes, he has Barbaro's eyes! See what love, kindness, compassion, time, a little bit of money, and a whole lotta prayers can do! This weekend has been truly been blessed for me, got to see the vids, the fist pics of Life is Sweet and her new colt by Smart Strike, read the heartfelt story of my first (horse) love, Canonero II, written by Steve Haskins, and saw pics of Rachel Alexandra's open house; what more can girl ask for in one weekend!

    ReplyDelete
  156. Sounds like a great idea, Greg! You have my vote!
...and I really think this blog is super! Thanks so much for pursung another way to keep everyone communicating, share updates on the first family and more.....via another blog.

  158. Greg..congratulations on UCONN winning. Hope they go all the way. Will be rooting for them.

What do you think Nicanor's next race will be? Alot of talk on ABF. Looks like he had a good work today.

  160. Hi Greg, How about placing most recent blogs up top, instead of scrolling down? Is that possible, or am I doing it the hard way? Duhhh?
Please, inform me..... also, can you add a page for "Dyna King?" just curious.... As regards the ads..... "you know best," and we, "FOB's" are in "YOUR" Trusty Hands... ALWAYS... How bout a Luncheon @ Belmont one Summer weekend Day? ..... Just a thought...:)

    ReplyDelete
  161. Now that we have a new blog. How about some pictures of Lenny and Margano. We haven't seen these brothers in months. Is a picture every now and then, too much to ask for. It's great Gifted/Dynaking is being helped, but the Blog is about Barbaro's family.

    ReplyDelete
  162. ElsieF313...If you will look to the right side of this site, Greg has put up Nicanor's pictures and Lentenor's pictures. Take a look. I think you will like it.

Yes, this site is about Barbaro's family but we consider Dyna King/Gifted part of his family since Dynaformer is his Dad. He's what we want to call him a half brother to Barbaro. You won't get complaints on this site about talking about him. He's now considered part of the family. And we FOB's have contributed to his getting better at Heart of Tuscon. If you look at his eyes they look soo much like Barbaro's just like Nic, Lenny and Margano have. Sorry, I'm afraid we'll keep track of him until he's back to really good health.

    ReplyDelete
  163. Can someone post the link to see the Gifted/DynaKing videos, tks

  165. Hi All,
I'm NJ, I have been posting anonymously until I can figure out the google profile. I was a silent observer on bloodhorse, I never got involved, too much drama! Thanks Greg for continuing the Brother's Blog. BTW I am a UCONN fan!! My Family is in Terryville.

  166. Thanks NJ...love the video of Gifted. That's a happy horse!!!

  167. Hi Greg, GREAT new site. Dyna King was a spunky kid again today. He is holding strong, and moving forward. I would really like to thank everyone for being a great support group for him. He is responding so well this time to what we are doing that he amazes us everyday. We had to boot and soak his back feet today and he tried to kick me, lol the little bugger. I love to see the attitude coming back to him, he is all in now, and the fight is really on. He is so happy now, and has been just waiting for a few years now to be able to run again. To know he hasn't been able to gallop in at least two years let alone trot is filling our HEARTS and eyes with tears everyday. Our goal is to have him ready for travel at the end of the year so that he can have the life he so deserves. I watched the special on Ferdinand last night and it broke my heart so bad. Gifted/Dyna King was one day from there before we were called in. I can't wait to see his story end well, and get him closer to you all so that he can get more visits from people that know him. Night everyone, and God Bless you all.
    Judy

    ReplyDelete
  168. Judy, does this mean he's coming home to Three Chimneys or to Old Friends? Just a thought, (hope, hope)! Wouldn't this be a dream come true for him to come home to Kentucky!!! :) I would love to see him munching on some of that good ole Kentucky bluegrass, kicking his heels up, and romping in green pastures. Keep fingers, toes, arms, legs, paws and hooves cross for DK, and maybe just maybe, he'll get to meet the brothers. Wouldn,t that be a joy and a blessing only Barbaro could pull off. :) Thank you and your team so very much for all you do for 'our' Gifted. Did you know that there is actually a thoroughbred racing named Gifted, saw him race Saturday on tv.

    ReplyDelete
  169. Nicanor worked out today, hope he gets that race soon. Yes, DynaKing is AWESOME what a wonderful change for him.
    Rose

    ReplyDelete
  170. Hey Rose, How are you doing? Better I hope. Glad to see you back on line. You can look forward to Nic running at Keenland in April. Come back more often.

    ReplyDelete
  171. Judy...thanks soo much for the update on Gifted and the wonderful video of him playing in the water. So happy for him. Keep up the good work and we're here for you and Gifted whenever you need us. Hope your son is doing great as well. The best of everything to you both.

    ReplyDelete
  172. I didn't know there was a race horse named Gifted. I have never really followed the horse racing, but now I am learning so much about it since Gifted got here. I see your posts on them and I get excited now seeing how many people really care about these horses, and want to see them do well. We have always been at the other end of it where we catch them when they fall from peoples sight. I have now met a lot of people that are so responsible for these guys and really take care of their own even when they are done racing. This place does my heart good. And yes that would be the dream come true for him if we can get Dyna King into one of the pastures back there where he can run, buck, and eat that blue grass he so deserves. That's the goal for him. Right now it is a day, by day to get better.
    Judy

  173. On ABR under vigils there is a thread about Tessa (Contessa) a horse with coffin bone issues who has not received the treatment Dyna King has received, and they have decided to put her down at 3:p.m. EDT today. She's a lovely girl and I'm screaming inside about this -- wish so much that there was something that could be done to save her!

  174. Hi Lou in Texas,
Thanks, yes, all is better, I guess I have been depressed. At least, the sheriff came out and talked to my gun toting neighbor and gave him the riot act and no shooting so far. I can't wait for Nicky to run, then get a glimpse of Lentenor and Margano if I am lucky enough, I sure miss those horses...they are so special...

  178. Another great video of Dyna King on Heart's facebook page. He is looking so good. Everyday is so much improvement. I am getting so antsy about LVR. It must be getting really close for her.

    ReplyDelete
  179. First,

To everyone, thanks for the kind words regarding Nicanor and Lentenor's specific pages :)

Dyna King/Gifted will also have his own page dedicated to him very soon. What he has gone through in his life, and the strong will to fight and survive that he has shown in the last 3 months, well, it is truly remarkable. To those that believe he should not be on this blog, sorry, you couldn't be more wrong and maybe you don't belong on this blog.

    Finally,

I expect this to be a very exciting year involving all three brothers. My next entry will include my thoughts on the upcoming year and, how I honestly believe this will be a huge year for Nicanor. Lentenor is going to need some time to get back into shape. Once he is back in top form, I believe he will surprise alot of the so-called naysayers. As far as Margano? All I can say is, I cannot wait to meet the little, big guy very soon at Fair Hill.

Thanks once again for everyone coming over here from Bloodhorse :)

  187. Hi Greg and everyone that is following Dyna King/ Gifted. He is doing well but has stopped eating his bucket again. He keeps us on this roller coaster and we just can only ride the ride with him at this time. I am going to start shots on him and not worry about what he eats. I can make sure he gets his dosage if i do it this way. We are adding new shoes for him in the next two weeks and will hope for even better results. We are also having a hay shortage here with the fuel raise, and cotton prices shooting up. We need help with hay, feed for everyone. We have over 50 horses and they will be in trouble soon with out a donation for food. Our specialty is putting weight on horses, and getting them the doctors they need to get better, please remember that this is all possible because of the help you give us. I am going to order bracelets, and t-shirts for your site so that we can support Dyna King through this hard time. Just let me know what we need to do.

    With warm regards
    Judy Glore
His feet are getting better and his sole is renewed. He is ready now for this fight.

    ReplyDelete
  188. Oh Judy thanks for letting us know how we can help. Will make a donation to help you feed your wonderful animals. Thanks for all you are doing for ecah and everyone of them. Dyna King is looking great. Hopefully he will start eating better again. He has something to live for now. Hope your son is making a full recovery. Our thoughts and prayers will be with you all.

    ReplyDelete
  189. BTW,

We will all know tomorrow if Nicanor gets into the $100,000 Appleton Stakes (Gr.III) on Florida Derby Day at Gulfstream this Sunday! If he gets in, he is going to race, fingers crossed...

    ReplyDelete
  190. Thanks Greg..we'll keep out fingers crossed.

How is your elbow doing? Hopefully you are not in as much pain as you were. Have you been able to recover anything? You can answer me at my email address if you'd rather. Take care.

    ReplyDelete
  191. Judy,

I am working on a page for Dyna King/Gifted, just like Nicanor and Lentenor's pages, it will be posted tomorrow night. I will provide a link for people to help with donations and a link to purchase bracelets and t-shirts. Also, I mailed out the Breeders' Cup cooler blanket for Dyna King to wear. If you want, you can sell the blanket to help for food? It is from the 2009 Breeders' Cup Championship at Santa Anita. It is from the horse, "Join in the Dance", who is still in training and finished 7th in the 2009 Kentucky Derby.
